The Yoga Room is a boutique yoga studio in the heart of Sheung Wan (104, Jervois St) which offers yoga for kids using an internationally recognized program, "YogaKids", developed by Marsha Wenig. This very popular program has been featured in CNN, Time and many other publications, and has been introduced in over 23 countries. The testimonials are always excellent: the kids sleep better, have a better concentration, and as the same time, they strengthen their body and increase their flexibility. The classes are scheduled in a fun and creative environment. The teacher uses interactive games and animated poses. All classes are adapted to specific age groups: Kids 1 (ages 3-6), kids 2 (ages 7-10) and Teen (ages 11-16). As we all know, it's at that age that the brain of the child is most responsive to new knowledge and yoga is a great way to address his mind and spirit in a fun manner. One yoga pose can teach anatomy, math, peace, music all at once! The benefits are endless: increased focus, more imagination and creative expression, self-build confidence, learn of new breathing techniques and how to effectively handle stress. God that would have been a very helpful program for me, I tended to be slightly restless as a child, not to say hyper..... I heard of a child saying she just does a pose when she gets frustrated and is having a bad day... Way better than throwing a tantrum if you ask me! And apparently the relaxation at the end of the class (with calming music and visualization techniques) works wonders as well. Looking for a quieter home and to give your kids new techniques to go through life peacefully, YogaKids is the answer! Lola's secret: Apparently the warrior pose and tree pose are the best suited for hyperactive kids, as these children crave movement and sensory stimulus.
