Thanks to Twangoo, you can now purchase this unique and beautiful board game for $99 instead of $199. HK Quizztory is very easy to play. You are advancing on the board with the help of a dice, and progress can be helped or hindered by the answers you give to HK-themed questions. You start in 1900, first one to pass 2009 (when HK hosted East Asian games) is the winner! One game takes approximately an hour and can be played between 2 and 6 players. It's a bit like the artistic and eccentric cousin of our good old Trivial Pursuit. The board is beautifully illustrated with humorous and historical cartoons about HK, like people flying in 1971 (Typhoon rose) or the Peninsula hotel in 1928 (the year where it opened). You can choose to move on the board between 6 collectable metal pieces, each representing a traditional HK transport: junk, rickshaw, tram, star ferry... and you have a choice of 200 different quizzcards, split between 2 levels of difficulty. Perfect if you are mixing players with permanent ID and new expats! HK has such a vibrant history and so many colorful traditions that the game is a lot of fun! Expect historical questions like "When was the First Opium war fought?" (1830, 1840 or 1940) or more funky ones, like "When was dog eating outlawed?" (1954, 1996, still legal)… I quite like this one, "HK has the highest ownership of what per capita in the world?" ( Rolls Royce, Pet alligator, women's luxury handbags)... And many more about Mid-Autumn festival, local delicacies or Chinese customs.
